Linocut Carving & Printing
A hands-on workshop with guest artist Aqua Studio

Day 1 of IMPRINT & FORM: A Weekend of Material Workshops explores how imprints hold the memory of a moment.
Spend the afternoon learning the fundamentals of linoleum block printing with Dani Moeser of Aqua Studio.
A linocut is a form of relief block printing (similar to a woodcut), where linoleum is used for image-making.
You’ll carve a design into the block, roll ink onto the surface, and press it onto paper — printing an image entirely by hand.
Printmaking balances technical process with intuitive flow. Each print carries the trace of the block’s materiality
and pressure of the hand, no two prints ever the same.
We’ll begin with a brief history of block printing, then you’ll sketch and carve your design. You’re welcome to come with
an idea in mind, or work from references we’ve provided. From there, we’ll ink and make as many prints as time allows.
Your carved block becomes a stamp you can return to again and again — to print on fabric, notebooks, greeting cards,
and more. For example, Dani creates landscape prints of their favorite memories on sourced garments,
extending the life of textiles, as well as the stamp itself.
All materials will be provided.
No prior experience necessary.
Limited capacity. Advance reservations required.
Tickets are non-refundable.
